TEXPO 2024 commence with focus on textile and leather industries

    The 5th TEXPO Pakistan 2024, a prominent international event dedicated to promoting the country’s textile and leather industries, launched at Karachi’s Expo Center, hosting over 200 exhibitors and offering numerous opportunities for business networking.

    The event launched with robust participation, drawing in 573 buyers from almost 60 countries, and will open its doors to the public on its final day, October 25th.

    Federal Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan, officially inaugurated the exhibition via digital means. Distinguished guests, including Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, were also present. The event is organized by the Ministry of Commerce and Textile, in collaboration with the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP).

    During the opening ceremony, Jam Kamal Khan highlighted the untapped potential within Pakistan’s textile and leather sectors, calling for stronger collaboration between the public and private sectors to boost resilience and competitiveness. He emphasized that the exhibition provides an ideal platform for creating new partnerships and strengthening existing ones, driving collective growth and success for all stakeholders.

    The minister also discussed the Ministry of Commerce’s initiatives, including the Export Development Fund (EDF), which supports trade promotion, marketing, skills enhancement, and adherence to environmental, social, and governance standards.

    He underscored the need for sustainable production practices and the adoption of modern technology to position Pakistan as a leader in eco-friendly, high-value manufacturing.

    The event also featured speeches by local leaders. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah emphasized the importance of showcasing the skills of local artisans to an international audience, especially in key markets such as Europe and the United States. Governor Faisal Karim Kundi expressed optimism that the exhibition would improve Pakistan’s global image.

    Throughout the event, several business-to-business meetings and agreements were signed, underscoring the fair’s role in fostering economic growth and supporting the textile export sector in Pakistan.

    A fashion show featuring renowned designers like Shamaeel Ansari and Sanam Chaudhry added to the event, presenting the rich and diverse fashion culture of Pakistan to international visitors.

    As the exhibition progresses toward its conclusion on October 25, 2024, it continues to promote international trade ties and showcase Pakistan’s industrial strengths, with expectations of sealing significant business deals and partnerships.
