With 42 exhibiting member companies, ITMA ASIA CITME, which will take place in Shanghai from October 14 to 18, will once again feature strong VDMA participation. German exhibitors represent the largest foreign presence at the trade fair.

The exhibiting VDMA members cover almost all machine sectors, with a focus on spinning and man-made fibers, nonwovens, weaving, braiding, knitting & warp knitting, finishing & dyeing as well as textile processing. The VDMA’s activities in Shanghai this year are under the motto “Smart Technologies for Green Textile Production”. VDMA members are committed to using highly efficient technologies to reduce the consumption of resources in the textile value chain. The aim is to exploit the potential of resources such as textile materials, water, energy and chemicals and to minimize CO2 emissions. For VDMA members, the trade fair is therefore an opportunity to reaffirm their pioneering role in new ideas, products and technologies in the textile machinery industry.

In recent years, around 50 per cent of German exports of textile machinery and accessories have gone to Asia. Between January and July 2024, textile machinery worth around 580 million euros was shipped from Germany to Asia, which represents a decline of 25 per cent compared to 2023 due to the weak global economic situation. The largest export market was once again China with 240 million euros, followed by India, Bangladesh, Uzbekistan, Pakistan and Vietnam.

The VDMA team in Shanghai is once again made up of colleagues from VDMA headquarters in Germany and VDMA China. With these combined forces, the team is well prepared to support the exhibiting member companies on site.
