In recent years, Uzbekistan has established itself as a permanent fixture among the most important international locations for the textile industry. The figures cited by Germany Trade & Invest (GTAI) underline this: “Since 2020, annual gross fixed capital formation in the textile and clothing industry has exceeded the 1 billion US dollar mark. The industry association’s planned investments for the textile industry at the beginning of 2023 alone add up to a good 500 million U.S. dollars (US$). In addition, new projects are being prepared. The association includes more than 1,500 jersey and confectionary goods manufacturers and about 450 textile companies, which account for the bulk of the industry’s output.” Usbekistans Textil- und Bekleidungsindustrie investiert kräftig | Branchen | Usbekistan | Textilindustrie (gtai.de)
Uzbek delegation of textile entrepreneurs visits Baden-Württemberg
At the end of August, Gesamtmasche, German-Uzbek Textile Partners (GUZ Partner) and Uzbekistan Textile and Garment Industry Association invited to a business forum in Baden-Württemberg. The aim was to make new contacts in order to establish partnerships with Germany and Europe. Until now, Uzbekistan has done most of its business with neighboring countries.
Technical competence is also to be further expanded, as is the processing of blended yarns. Currently, the focus is on cotton yarns; the natural fiber is grown and processed in the country.
Therefore, existing and potential German partner companies sat at the table alongside Uzbek representatives. These included Mayer & Cie. as well as various other machine and component manufacturers from southern Germany.
