The Aachen-Dresden-Denkendorf International Textile Conference (ADD ITC) was held in Stuttgart/Germany with 450 participants from 25 countries. The conference covered a wide range of topics from industry and research, including high-performance fibers, biobased fibers, fiber composites, functionalization and medical textiles.

78 presentations in plenary sessions and 3 parallel sessions were on the program. This year’s focus was on the challenges posed by the circular economy and recycling, and on producing high-tech textiles sustainably and without negative environmental impact – and at the same time profitably. This requires not only suitable technologies, but also the right choice of materials and the correct handling of substances and material flows. The presentations dealt with the relevant UN and EU guidelines, as well as their concrete implementation in companies.

Under the motto “From the idea to practice”, the Forschungskuratorium Textil e.V., Berlin/Germany, presented successful cooperation projects from the IGF-ZIM program in a separate transfer session, in which representatives from science and industry jointly developed and successfully implemented products and processes.

Speakers from this year’s partner countries Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg gave a comprehensive insight into the textile industry and research in the 3 countries with lectures and discussion contributions.

The conference program was complemented by exhibition stands from 24 companies and institutes as well as over 100 scientific posters. 3 of the poster presentations were honored with the Best Poster Award of the Aachen-Dresden-Denkendorf International Textile Conference 2024.

The ADD ITC is organized in annual rotation by the Leibniz-Institut für Interaktive Materialien (DWI) at RWTH Aachen University, Aachen/Germany, the Institute for Textile Machinery and High-Performance Textile Materials Technology (ITM) at TU Dresden, Dresden/Germany, and the German Institutes for Textile and Fiber Research Denkendorf (DITF) in Denkendorf/Germany. The next edition will take place on November 27-28, 2025, in Aachen, organized by the DWI.
