Printing SA proudly hosted its inaugural Technical Forum Roadshow series in July, with events held across multiple venues in three different cities. Each stop on the roadshow was fully booked, highlighting the strong interest and active engagement of members from across the country.

The highlight of the Roadshow was the presence of Mr. Phil Walsh, a true industry luminary. As a former Vice President of Kodak, a globally recognized inkjet specialist, and a sought-after consultant, Mr Walsh brought a wealth of international experience and technical expertise to local audiences. His presentations were both informative and insightful, providing practical advice on navigating the rapidly evolving world of digital printing and automation.
The primary objective of the Roadshow was to support industry leaders, managers, and technical teams with the knowledge and perspective needed to make considered, future-proof decisions. With digital transformation reshaping the sector, many members are faced with challenging choices around equipment investments and process automation. Mr. Walsh’s sessions focused on:
- Key considerations when purchasing digital equipment
- Evaluating automation solutions to streamline workflows
- Real-world case studies and lessons from global markets
- Avoiding common pitfalls in digital adoption
Attendees left with a clearer understanding of how to align their investments with both current needs and long-term growth, ensuring maximum value and operational efficiency.
The positive feedback from participants has been overwhelming. Many have expressed gratitude for the opportunity to engage directly with an expert of Mr. Walsh’s calibre and for the open, honest discussions that took place. The interactive Q&A sessions were particularly popular, allowing for the exchange of ideas and addressing specific challenges faced by local companies.

This Roadshow marked a first for Printing SA—a pilot event tailored specifically to deliver high-value, technical content where it matters most: on the shop floor. The enthusiasm and demand for such initiatives have set a strong precedent. Our association is already considering how to build on this momentum, with plans to make similar events a regular feature of our annual calendar.
As we continue to navigate the challenges and opportunities of digital transformation, Printing SA remains committed to providing platforms that inform, inspire and connect. The Roadshow was just the beginning, they look forward to supporting our industry with future events, knowledge sharing programs and collaborative opportunities that drive lasting progress and innovation.
