The inaugural Recycling and Recoverable Fibers conference concluded on a high note in Dubai with participants calling for the event to be made into an annual affair. Organised by MP Congress & Exhibitions, the three-day event was held from 4 to 6 September 2006. Recycling industry veterans from Middle East, South Asia and Europe converged to network, exchange ideas, share challenges and meet potential business partners.

The conference kicked off with a keynote address by Mr Abdullah Mohammad Rafia, Assistant Director General for Environment and Public Health, Dubai Municipality, United Arab Emirates (UAE). Speakers from some of the world’s leading industry names, such as Middle East Paper Co., Paper Industry Technology Association and Fiber Research Consultant also delivered papers. The event rounded off with a mill visit to Tadweer Waste Treatment LLC’s state-of-the-art sorting and recycling facility.
