Interstoff Asia Directions trend committee presents its trend forecast

The Interstoff Asia Directions trend committee will present its apparel fabric trends forecast for Spring/Summer 2008 at Interstoff Asia Essential - Spring. The trend forecasts help guide designers and garment professionals as they produce their styles and lines in the coming season.

Spring/Summer 2008 will be characterized by natural and functional fabrics with vivid and often intriguing colors. The trends will include romantic and artistic elements, with textured fabrics and illustrative prints.

Interstoff Asia commissions top trend forecasters from around the world to devise each season’s trend stories. The Directions trend committee for 2007 combines the talent and experience of: Sachiko Inoue (Tokyo), the chief designer; Nelly Rodi Agency (Paris); Elementi Moda (Milan); and Here & There (New York).

These trend forecasters, from the leading fashion centres around the world, have the expertise and local knowledge to forecast the themes that capture the pulse of upcoming apparel fabric trends.

‘Romantic’, ‘modern’, ‘natural’, ‘primitive’ are the key terms to remember for 2008 fashion trends

Those trends are given as under:

Romantic Pops

Airy and romantic while still being playful, the look is both feminine and sophisticated. colors include pastels with soft shades punctuated by elements of vigorous colour. Fabrics are soothing and soft, with natural fluidity, embellished by appliqué and patterns including retro graphics and comic or plant-like prints.

Splashing Modernity

A sharpened and refined look inspired by the 1960s. colors are glittery and golden, with transparent, natural or textured fabrics including seersucker and double weave.

Natural Labyrinth

A twist on the classics, infused with earthy designs and plant-themed patterns. colors include deep grey green and khaki with airy materials such as mesh or gauze contrasted with jacquard and elaborate embroidery.

Primitive Art

A rich and timeless look, with geographic art elements invoking history and culture. The colors are rich and dark, energized by metallic details while fabrics are opulent with handcrafted elements.

Chief designer for the Directions trend committee, Sachiko Inoue, will design a special display to illustrate the themes in a Trend Forum at Interstoff Asia Essential - Spring 2007.
