Lanxess AG has agreed to sell its North American Textile Processing Chemicals (TPC) business unit to StarChem Ltd. a textile and specialty chemicals subsidiary of Dalton, Ga.-based Star Holdings Inc. for an undisclosed price. The TPC business in North America includes operations in Wellford, S.C., and Montreal. StarChem will be based in Wellford and will continue to employ most of the TPC workforce.

The sale of the North American operations follows Lanxess’s divestment of all TPC operations outside of North America in November 2006. Prior to finding a buyer, Lanxess had planned to close the Wellford facility. The companies expect to complete the transaction by the end of 2006.
