Despite rising prices of raw materials, country’s textile manufacturers registered incredible growth in the first half. On the other hand long-fiber cloth manufacturers are still facing problems. Leading companies like Makalot Industrial and Tainan Enterprises reported as high as 30% to 50% gain in their profits for the period in consideration.

Prices of polyester yarn and nylon filament have been soaring and reached NT$10 per kg due to continuation of high prices of upstream raw materials such as purified terephalic acid (PTA) and ethylene glycol (EG), according to market analyst.
