Textile industry outlines new scheme to improve production (Thailand)
In order to cope with the competitive pressures form Asian giants like China and India, every developing country is strengthening its textile and garment sector, especially to explore and expand export markets.
Recently, Textile Association of Thailand revealed that the textile manufacturers were drafting a scheme that would enhance production, both, in terms of quality and quantity. Pongsak Assakul, President, explained that the country needed to continuously upgrade its products to survive in the global market. The project will shortly be presented to the new Government for approval. Meanwhile, companies are shifting their operations to countries like Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia where cheaper labour will help reduce production costs.
