Hanoi Department of Industry has set up a plan for developing its textile and garment sector by 2010 with targets to gain annual growth of 16% and become one of the top five leading industrial sectors of the city. The sector is, expected to contribute 11.4% to the total industrial production value and 10% to the employment of the city, Luu Tien Long, the department’s director revealed.

Major goods in development strategy include high–class shirt, T- shirt, Polo-Shirt, mosquito-net, cotton towel, knitted fabric, shuttled fabric etc. Besides, the sector plans to set up centers for designing high-quality fashion products and also work to motivate the development of supporting industries in the city.
