Innovation event and International Conference on Innovation and
Enterpreneurship in Textiles at National Textile University
University, Faisalabad organized the 3rd All Pakistan DICE
Textile Innovation Event and (IETEX) International Conference on
Innovation and Enterpreneurship in Textiles on 06th and 07th
National Textile University, Faisalabad
organized the 3rd All Pakistan DICE Textile Innovation Event and
(IETEX) International Conference on Innovation and
Enterpreneurship in Textiles on 06th and 07th March 2018.
The main objective of this platform was to
promote and collaborate on innovations related to textile
sector, commercialization of innovations, textile engineering
capacity building, leveraging knowledge of expatriates around
the world, providing access to Pakistan Textile Industry to
international markets and to help the Government of Pakistan in
textile policy making.
It was one of the biggest gathering of
academia and the textile industry in Pakistan, with 180 projects
presented by students and faculty members from 35 universities
nationwide. The CEOs and representatives from more than 120
industries visited this event. A total of 0.5 million rupees was
awarded to different projects based on the innovation and
usefulness to address different textile industry issues.
In addition, 10 projects were selected by
different industries for commercialization, and 1.6 million
rupees were granted on the spot for the said purpose. Panel
discussions were arranged under the head of National Innovation
Basket on the second day of this event. Experts from different
segments of textile industry participated and discussed the
potential challenges and opportunities for the textile industry
of Pakistan. President DICE Foundation USA appreciated the
efforts of NTU management for organizing such a mega event,
especially Rector Prof. Dr Tanveer Hussain, Dr. Yasir Nawab and
Mr. Muzzamal Hussain. Dr Tanveer Hussain Rector NTU who showed a
commitment to making NTU one of the best institute of Pakistan.
A large number of visitors, delegations
from 40 universities, 150 student/faculty groups and more than
120 industries/CEOs made this event once again successful.
Dr. Yasir Nawab, Chair DICE Textile
(Pakistan) was awarded with first ever DICE Leadership Award
2018 for his untiring efforts to bring academia and industry
together at the DICE Textile platform.
This award was awarded as a token of
appreciation by the President DICE Mr. Saad Elahi for
successfully arranging the DICE Textile innovation event at
National Textile University for the last three years with the
largest participation from the industry and academia ever in the
history of Pakistan textile sector. Mr. Saad Elahi highly
appreciated Dr. Yasir Nawab for making DICE Textile the most
vibrant event of all DICE events.
The 1st International Conference on
Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Textiles (IETEX 2018) is
organized by NTU in collaboration with DICE Foundation, USA,
Higher Education Commission, Pakistan and Interloop Pvt. Ltd.
Chairperson of the Executive Board and
Chief Operating Officer of Interloop Limited, Mr. Navid Fazil
was the Chief Guest of the event. Many CEOs, government
officials, students, experts from textile industry and academia
attended the conference. Honourable chief guest appreciated the
efforts of Professor Dr. Tanveer Hussain, Rector NTU, Dr. Sheraz
Ahmad, Chairman Department of Materials & Testing and Dr. Yasir
Nawab, Chairman Fabric Manufacturing Department, for organizing
such a successful and fruitful event. Professor Dr. Arshad Ali,
Executive Director HEC graced the closing ceremony and expressed
his views about the event, he also distributed the prizes and
shields among the winners of DICE Textile.
The major objective of this conference was
successfully achieved by providing a comprehensive platform to
the experts/representatives from the textile industry, academia
and government to discuss how our local textile industry could
be improved to enhance its exports’ share. The researchers and
scholars from the textile field shared their research work about
growing diversity in technology and its range of applications,
they also discussed the ideas and opportunities for
entrepreneurship in textiles.
