Textile Institute of Pakistan research poster display
Textile Institute of Pakistan recently held a research
poster display of their final year students. The event was held over two days
starting 30th November till 1st December 2007. The event was held at Commune Art
Gallery, near I.I Chundrigar Road and was sponsored by MekoTex, a textile
spinning and weaving company.
The sole purpose of the event was to improve the
industry-academia linkage and showcase the research being conducted at Textile
Institute of Pakistan.
The research posters included the objectives, methodology,
expected outcomes and recommendations of the projects. The apparel, management
and sciences departments participated in this event, which was organized by Mr.
Ali Hafeez (lecturer - textiles) and Mr. Saqib Sohail (lecturer - apparel). The
research groups comprising of two to three students interacted with industry
representatives, who provided valuable feedback to the students for their
projects.

This event is a new concept and has been well appreciated
by the visitors as well as the participants and has a potential of being a major
attraction in the industry. The research being conducted included use of nano
material based finishes, identification of gaps in the apparel industry and
marketing of apparel products to name a few.

Textile Institute of Pakistan is an APTMA sponsored
project and has an independent charter granted by the Government of Sindh and is
recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) as a leading institute in
textiles and apparel.
