Abdul Aziz Khatri (1964-2007)
Young industrialist Abdul Aziz Khatri was brutally killed while returning from
his office on 4th September 2007. Born on 29th February, 1964 in Karachi, Aziz
Khatri was the young scion of the leading manufacturing and trading Chemi Group
of Companies.
He was the Managing Director of Chemi Dyestuffs Industries and looked after
production, planning, procurement and marketing of the products since July 1990.
He started his career as a shift chemist at Mehran Gums (Pvt) Limited in the
year 1987 and worked there till 1988. From 1989, he worked as Technical Director
and looked after production and procurement of raw materials at Mehran Gums in
Pakistan.
With a Master of Science (M.Sc) qualification in Polymer and Textile Technology
from University of Karachi and coupled with years of experience in Textile wet
processing technology, he was the asset to the textile dyeing and chemical
industry of Pakistan. He was also the member of the Society of Dyers and
Colourists (SDC) in United Kingdom since 1987 and has contributed in its
endeavors to promote color science and technology in Pakistan.
He was a highly accomplished and distinguished individual, who gave his time,
energy and heart to the running of his family business and was loved deeply by
his colleagues, friends and staff.
Professor Dr. Ishrat, Applied Chemistry Department, University of Karachi while
talking about Aziz Khatri mentioned that Aziz Khatri was one of his students who
made him proud.
Abul Rahim Khatri, Director Marketing Chemicolor and first cousin of Aziz,
mentioned that Aziz Khatri was one of the most kind hearted and soft spoken
person he had known. He was an active member of SDC, was also a member of the
Managing Commitee of S.I.T.E. Association. He was most sincere in his work and
gave quality time to his family despite his very busy professional life. It is
indeed a great loss not only for our family. but for the country to lose such a
wonderful and accomplished young man who had already contributed so much towards
the society through his good deeds and professional excellence.
