$19.2 billion textile export target
Textile export target of US $19.20 billion would not be
achievable in the face of shortage of raw material, the
apathetical approach and numerous procedural irritants, said
Mian Zahid Aslam, Chairman Pakistan Textile Exporters
Association (PTEA).
He said that an immediate solution to the crisis is the
withdrawal of import levy on manmade fibre and raw material
import from any source and country without any hindrance.
He further stated that due to unrealistic and defective tax
policies, the cottage industry, which was the main supplier in
export goods chain, has collapsed. Due to this fact the
exporters are facing difficulty in procuring cheaper cloth for
value addition and export.
Anti dumping duty on Pakistani textile in European Union was
also greatly hampering the textile exports from the country. |
