Mr. Richard Yuen, Huamei Thread Company Limited.

Meet customers needs

“With the growth of world economy, comes the improvement in people’s quality of life, we have to respond to the more stringent quality requirement of our customers”.

Mr. Richard Yuen, Group Vice President (Manufacturing-Asia) of American & Efird, Inc. said, “This is also the reason that our plants are equipped with top-brand equipments. Fong’s offers products of world standard with reasonable pricing to its customers. We are using Fong’s package dyeing machines to produce the best quality threads and Xorella’s conditioning system helps to stabilize the quality of threads to meet our customers’ needs.”

Partnering with XORELLA

XORELLA’s steaming is an important part of sewing thread manufacturing process at A&E & Huamei Thread. Depending on the thread engineering specifications, the XORELLA process is used for special heat setting, or for the setting of twist in synthetic yarn. XORELLA has developed the unique temperature gradient control, which allows the design of the heating-up curve in relation to the shrinkage characteristic of the synthetic yarn. The dynamic shrinkage achieved contributes to excellent uniformity of thread elongation, and avoids the crushing of yarn tubes caused by shock steam treatment.

“We have installed XORELLA Yarn Steaming systems in all of our manufacturing facilities, where steam setting is required. XORELLA provides us high quality machinery with excellent reliability of the process,” commented Mr. Richard Yuen.

Long-Term Collaboration with Fong’s

The collaboration between Huamei Thread and Fong’s Group can be traced back to 1993. Ningbo Dunhuang Import and Export Co., Ltd., the predecessor of Huamei Thread bought the first set of Fong’s CCS high temperature package dyeing machine. According to Mr. Richard Yuen, Huamei is now using 11 sets Fong’s ALLWIN package yarn dyeing machines, 21sets of Labwin laboratory package dyeing machine, MircoWin Mini sample yearn dyeing machine, FTDW radio frequency dryers at their spinning and thread plants.

The question begs why did choose Fong’s as a partner? “With the growing market needs for the high-end thread products, we need precious machines to help us to achieve best dyeing results and quality. Fong’s Group is a leading supplier in the dyeing and finishing segment. Its R&D capability and production capacity enable Fong’s to provide a complete solution for this highly value-added process in the textile industry,”

Mr. Richard Yuen mentioned, “Fong’s Labwin yarn dyeing machine is designed for samples and small batches production. It has same functional features like the production machine, which provides flexibility in our dye houses. The Allwin package dyeing machines with extremely low liquor ratio consume less dyestuff, steam, water and thus, help us to achieve ecological benefits.”

“We are not only enjoying the innovative products, but also enjoying the comprehensive services of the highest quality offered by Fong’s Group. This has been well-known to customers in the industry. Within the A & E Group, we have numerous Fong’s machines in our dye-houses located in USA, Northern China, Sri-Lanka, Bangladesh and Malaysia and more than 10 sets of XORELLA’s Yarn Steaming systems in other countries.”

Mr. Richard Yuen continued, “Moreover, we are impressed by Fong’s people’s mentality, from the top management to the technicians, everyone at Fong’s keeps a very good relationship with its customers in various levels, especially the workers at the dye-houses. It is the most efficient way to get customers feedback from these workers.”

“Fong’s highly advanced eco-friendly machines help us to achieve environmental solutions with less water and energy consumption,” Mr. Richard Yuen said, “Though high-quality products, advanced technology and skilled staff, Fong’s helps us to move forward and position ourselves as a reliable long-term partner for our customers.”

Getting into China Market

Being an American Chinese, after living in China for more than 7 years, Mr. Richard Yuen said, “developing business in China is a big challenge, quite at the beginning, we also have experienced some tough times, but we believe we did a good and successful job in China.”

“China’s status as a leading textile producer in the world is widely acknowledged. However the Chinese textile industry is facing increased competition from its counterparts in Asia in terms of resources, technology and, particularly labour supply. China’s domestic competition thus becomes more severe. China is improving substantially qualitywise. Yet awareness of intellectual property rights and environmental protection need to be improved. Establishing and promoting its own brands is of great importance to enhance the China’s textile industry into a value-added industry and to strengthen the international competitiveness of its products,” Mr. Richard Yuen added.

“Apart from this, the social responsibility is also one of the key issues that the enterprisers in China should take account into their business operations. The success of environmental protection and product quality control hinges not on the government-led regulations, but on overall attitude change within the industrial sector,” Mr. Yuen said, “An attitude change will translate into more companies seeing these problems as potential business opportunities.”
