Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics - China International Trade Fair for Apparel Fabrics & Accessories

A record-breaking 54,000 trade buyers from 98 countries attended the four-day Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics, from 29 October to 1 November 2007 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. The show featured textile products, an entire hall dedicated to accessories, several trend forecasting areas, a series of seminars and a special zone for British Textiles Designers.

More than 2,000 exhibitors were spread throughout seven halls including more than 600 companies from overseas. Many suppliers formed into one of the special pavilions from Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Pakistan, Portugal, Taiwan, Thailand and Turkey.

Of the visitors, around 17% came from outside Mainland China. Many praised the show's organization and variety.

Several hundred suppliers were grouped into country pavilions, which helped visitors find them more easily. Mr. Jack Wang, from Wedtex Industrial Corp was pleased with his company's participation in the Taiwan Pavilion. "We've had good responses, especially from Chinese buyers. The rising demand for textiles and higher consumption power of Chinese people prove that China is a strong and growing market. Our company offers a variety of laces for wedding accessories, lingerie and other apparel and we are very eager to bring our products to China. Intertextile Shanghai is the right channel for us to promote our business."

Many exhibitors were also organized by product group, including accessories. "Having accessories clustered into special areas is much easier for buyers because they know exactly where to go to look for what they want, allowing for better business matching," said Ms. Kinny Wong, with K & K Garment Accessories of Hong Kong."

Special features add value and interest to the show

Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics this year also featured a special pavilion dedicated to the apparel, fabric and accessories produced by six countries in the ASEAN region. The event, Source It 2007, highlighted 18 suppliers from Cambodia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics also featured a focus on design and trend with a zone for textile designers and several trend forums. The textile designers, nine from the United Kingdom, one from France and one from Italy, presented new and original designs.

Intertextile also held four trend forums to highlight trends for Autumn/Winter 2008-2009. The Interstoff Asia Essential Directions Trend Forum focused on three themes: the chilly "Ice Eco"; creative "Bobo Craft"; and the geometric "Techno Fiction." Fabrics China presented a take on future tends in China with four themes: the modernistic "Nocturne"; decorative "Sublimation"; calming "Purification"; and the animalistic "Footprint".
