KARL MAYER Academy – a new look for KARL MAYER’s training activities

KARL MAYER Group manufactures state-of-the-art machinery and also provides the necessary training and expertise needed to handle the machines correctly.

For many years, this traditional company has been offering courses on how to handle its products and machines, and has also been supplying information on warp knitting technology. Roughly 260 textile workers take advantage of these courses every year, which bring together participants from all over the world and which are continuously being modified and adapted to suit specific requirements.

The most comprehensive changes were introduced in 2005 as part of a project which is still in progress. A key feature of the changes has been that the existing training section has been transformed into the KARL MAYER Academy.

Many of the latest machines in KARL MAYER’s product range were installed in the company’s Academy last year, the old ones were removed, and some were modified so that their features could be demonstrated more easily for training purposes.

The training team has been expanded and a new director has been appointed. Klaus Kunde has been in charge of the KARL MAYER Academy since August 2007. He is continuing with the work on restructuring the training centre and has a clear idea of what he wants to achieve: ‘The KARL MAYER Academy must be upgraded and adapted effectively to suit training needs. Klaus Kunde has been instrumental in selecting the new staff and modernising the equipment that is used in the training courses, and has also helped in updating the training materials. Above all, he has been involved in planning the layout of the enlarged but compact training premises, which provide plenty of space for optimising the learning process. The aim is to extend the existing seminar rooms and link them to the training machines by the shortest possible route. This should enable to students to get to grips with warp knitting technology as quickly as possible!

In addition to the workers employed by KARL MAYER’s clients, in future, this facility will bring together lecturers, students, trainees, apprentices and the company’s own employees, e.g. from the customer service department, so that they can get to grips with every aspect of warp knitting.
