US cotton crop estimates

Cotton yield and quality of the 2007 crop in Kansas and Northern Oklahoma could be the best this year. Kansas and Northern Oklahoma are expected to harvest 55,000 acres of cotton this season, 15,000 irrigated and 40,000 dry land.

The crop made rapid progress through late July and August with September being nearly perfect for finishing out the crop.

In 2007 US cotton crop yield, could be the third largest on record, according to the USDA October crop report. It is estimated that the US 2007-08 cotton crop will yield 18.2 million bales with a national average yield per harvested acre of 826 pounds, 45 pounds above the five year average.
