Chinese Textile Trade in January - October 2007
China's foreign trade totaled US$ 1,759.32 billion in the first ten months of
this year, up 23.50% compared with the same period of last year. The export
amounted to US$ 985.84 billion, and import US$ 773.80 billion, up respectively
26.50% and 19.80% year-on-year.
In the same period, China's import and export of textiles and garment totaled
near US$ 160.65 billion, up 18.45% year-on-year and covering 9.13% of the
nation's total foreign trade value, according to the General Administration of
the Customs.
The export of textiles and garments amounted to US$ 145.17 billion, up 20.22%,
covering 14.73% of the country's total export value, in which, the export of
textile amounted to US$ 49.58 billion, garment US$ 95.59 billion, up
respectively 15.36% and 22.90%.
The import of textiles and garment totaled about 15.48 billion, up 4.07%,
covering 2.00% of the country's total import value. The import of textiles
amounted to US$ 13.85 billion, up 3.18%; while the import of garment US$ 1.62
billion, up 12.33%. The favorable trade balance stood at US$ 129.69 billion.
The United States, Japan and Hong Kong are top three destinations for China's
textile and garment export. The export to these three major markets amounted
respectively US$ 22.53 billion (up 23.42% year-on-year), US$ 16.84 billion (up
3.65%) and US$ 15.27 billion (up 2.54). The export to these markets totaled US$
54.63 billion, covering 37.63% of the total.
In the January-October period, China's export of textiles and garment to EU
amounted to US$ 24.09 billion, up 0.64% year-on-year.
Japan, Taiwan and the Republic of Korea are top three suppliers of China's
imported textiles and garment. The import amounted respectively US$ 2.66
billion, 2.64 billion and 2.10 billion, down 0.27%, 1.57% and 1.82% from a year
earlier. |
