T-shirts printing being investigated

The printing of the T-shirts by Savusavu garment factory, Windward Apparel has come under fire with various organizations criticizing the groups that ordered the T-shirts. Police are investigating the printing of T-shirts that had the slogan: 'Save the turtle, Eat a Methodist' after a complaint was filed by the Methodist Church against the printing of the T-shirts ordered by tourists and resorts in the western division.

ASP Rawalai said the police team in Savusavu was handling the matter said initial investigations would also determine whether police could progress further. The Methodist Church confirmed lodging a complaint with the police through the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The Soqosoqo Vakamarama ni Taukei said that groups ordering such T-shirts should not be allowed into the country. Executive Member Adi Finau Tabakaucoro said such slogans belittled the Methodists of this nation. An environmental group ordered the first batch of T-shirts. The Worldwide Fund for Nature has distanced itself from the printing of the T-shirts saying they had nothing to do with it.
