New trends in hometextiles
Reduction in import duties on 4,000 items under the Free Trade Agreement between
Pakistan and China has opened new vistas of increasing the two-way trade and
brightening the chances for exports of Fabrics, Made Ups and Home Textile to
China. This was stated by Chairman Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA),
Mian Zahid Aslam.
He said that new trends in manufacturing of home textiles particularly towards
Jacquard design in curtains were observed by the delegates during the visit to
Intertextile Shanghai.
Further the new change in printed bedware was displayed by Portuguese, Spanish
and Turkish manufacturers. Zahid Aslam said that during interaction with foreign
manufacturer’s keen interest for importing textiles from Pakistan was shown and
negotiations were maturing.
He further said that Chinese had established machinery manufacturing joint
ventures in collaboration with the German manufacturers of knitting machines
adding, there was a dire need of establishing such machinery joint ventures in
Pakistan with the collaboration of advanced industrial manufacturers of the
world in order to make a real and worth while progress.
The Intertextile show featured more than 2,000 exhibitors from 24 countries and
regions. Exhibitors include 1,394 suppliers from China and more than 600 from
throughout the world in 80,500 sqm of gross exhibition space. Pakistani
