New textile technology show launched in Mumbai for the Indian market

A new exhibition of textile technology, equipment and services has been launched to provide suppliers with a forum in the Indian sub-continent. Aimed at showcasing the latest textile manufacturing solutions, INDTEX 2009 will take place at the Bombay Exhibition Centre – NSE Complex in Mumbai from 18 – 20th November 2009.

The Indian textiles industry provides direct employment to over 35 million people. Currently, it contributes 4% to the GDP, and almost 17% to the country’s export earnings. It is now accelerating at an annual growth rate of almost 10% and is expected to continue growth at a rate of between 16% and 22% in value terms, reaching the level of US $115 billion by 2012. With this background, INDTEX has been developed to enable suppliers of textile equipment, products and expertise to present their solutions to this booming market. It is expected that the show will attract exhibitors from India’s textile sector as well as international suppliers of textile equipment and services. The show will cover all sectors of the textile manufacturing chain from the raw fibre to apparel production and industrial textile manufacture and use.

The organiser of INDTEX 2009 is Inter Ads-Brooks Exhibitions (India) Pvt.Ltd, a joint venture between Mack Brooks Exhibitions, a world leader in organising international trade exhibitions, and Inter Ads Ltd, based in India. Mack Brooks' well-known events include ATME-I, the American Textile Machinery Exhibition - International, most recently staged in Atlanta, USA.

The new event is supported by the American Textile Machinery Association (ATMA). President, Clay Tyeryar commented: “ATMA is looking forward to the upcoming INDTEX 2009 event in Mumbai and joins its peer organizations in supporting the event. The textile markets in India are poised for continued growth, so it is an important market for our members. INDTEX will showcase the newest technologies in the industry."

David Tellett, Director of Mack Brooks Exhibitions, added: “INDTEX will take place at a time of extraordinary growth in the Indian textiles market. We are delighted to be able to locate the show in Mumbai, the traditional home of textile manufacturing in India. It is clear that many key players internationally share our view that India is one of the world's major developing textile markets and see Mumbai as the perfect location.”
