KARL MAYER buys the Sucker-Müller portfolio from Moenus Group

With effect from 1st November 2007 the Karl Mayer Group is the new owner of the Sucker-Müller product section that has been acquired from Moenus Textilmaschinen-fabrik GmbH in Mönchengladbach.

The “Gebrüder Sucker” factory was founded in Grünberg in 1881, and in 1983 it merged with the company Franz Müller under the name of “Sucker+Müller”. The fusion with the textile machinery manufacturer “Hacoba” resulted in the “Sucker-Müller-Hacoba” group. Sucker became firmly established in the market of warp preparation units for weaving, being KARL MAYER’s largest competitor.

The completed purchase includes the trademark and patent rights, thus, enabling Karl Mayer to extend its Warp Preparation division by the internationally well accepted brand name “Sucker“. This acquisition gives fresh impetus to Karl Mayer’s further development in the sector related to warp preparation machines coming from Obertshausen (Germany), Rotal (Italy) and Wujin (China).

Sucker’s worldwide service and spare parts business with 25 employees at the company’s location in Mönchengladbach will be continued under the name of ‘Sucker Textilmaschinen GmbH’. It is envisaged to integrate the enterprise into the Karl Mayer Group, and on a medium-term basis, to set up a completely new product line, entirely controlled from Mönchengladbach.
