Fully responding the expectations coming from the most advanced textile sectors of the challenging Asian market, SMIT TEXTILE presents the new series of rapier weaving machines for flat, technical and terry fabrics: GS920 and GS920 F models.

These innovative weaving machines are designed according to the newest and comprehensive modularity concept that involves the whole SMIT TEXTILE’s machines project mechanical, electronic HW & SW and communication systems - allowing to further on enhance versatility and productivity, the recognized advantages of SMIT TEXTILE weaving technology.

SMIT TEXTILE new 920 Series highlights

v     New main motor drives for the lowest energy consumption and highest torque, to provide the best fabric quality for any style weaving.

v     New SMIT Gripper System, ensuring the highest versatility for every type of yarn and application: fabrics for fashion, for upholstery, technical fabrics and home fabrics

v     New mechatronic controls of weaving functions (weft management, lateral binding, shed formation, auxiliary functions etc. ), allowing the ”digital tuning” of the machine by the operator from the control monitor

v     New expandable electronic platform that integrates specialized subsystems through a CAN BUS network, controlled by a full touch screen monitor, with TFT technology 12.1 inch display, Open System standards, USB serial bus, Ethernet, Internet interfaces

v     New ergonomic design of the machines for high accessibility, high cloth visibility and quick and easy set-up

v     New sturdy machine structure, new mechanisms lay-out for the greatest stability and the most effective noise reduction.

SMIT TEXTILE machines on display

GS920 with dobby, 2.6 m nominal width, weaving a deck chair cloth, with PVC coated, polyamide multi-filament core yarns, representative of the wide market segment of heavy and industrial fabrics, such as sun screens, high-precision printing and bolting cloths, conveyor belts, airbags, aramid and glass fiber fabrics etc.

The compact and deformation-free machine construction and the special take-up and let off controls ensure optimal yarn load, superior fabric quality and high productivity.

This machine is distinguished by the new DIRECT DRIVE control, with “high response” motor, flange-mounted on the main machine shaft, featuring:

v     Instantaneous start-up for top fabric quality.

v     Simplicity of machine lay out, highly stiff drive trains for top performance.

v     Low energy consumption and low heat production.

v     Low vibration and noise level.

GS920 with dobby, 2.0 m nominal width, 8 colours, weaving a synthetic sportswear style with elastic weft insertion. This machine is equipped with the TWIN DIRECT DRIVE, the SMIT TEXTILE system with two high performance direct drives controlling independently the shedding shaft and the main weaving machine shaft, to bring versatility and flexibility features to the extreme opportunities. This innovative structural design translates into:

v     Low maintenance, minimal vibration and noise level

v     Minimal energy absorption and heat dissipation

v     Shedding closure phase electronic control.

GS920 F Terry machine, 2.6 m nominal width, with Jacquard arrangement, weaving high-end cotton Terry Towels with tucked-in selvedges. The new GS920 F, combines the “Dynamic Pile Control”, distinguishing SMIT TEXTILE terry technology, with structural and mechatronic releases of the new “920” series and further specific innovations, to ensure the widest creativity in terry sector:

v     New electronics integrating all functional controls; new Upright Leno and false selvedges control; new EWS Electronic Weft Selector, new EWC-A – Automatic Electronic Weft Cutter, to perfectly control –in the border too - the insertion of any weft yarn type; main motor “vector” control for minimal energy consumption and highest torque

v     New lateral and central tuck-in selvedges specifically designed by SMIT to achieve the best synergy with the “dynamic pile” system.

The new system is distinguished by the programmable Tuck-in ratio, to insert the tail of yarn in compliance with the variable pile ratio, for “top class” towels with unparalleled selvedge quality.

Global competitiveness and world-wide Customer Services

One of the leaders in rapier weaving machine manufacturing, SMIT has a long-established presence in Asia, where the technical features of its products combined with efficient service are highly appreciated in the widest application range.
