The
RSB-D 40 drawframe in the spinning mill - results from mill
operations
by Juergen Mueller, Head Product Management Drawframe,
Rieter Textile systems.
The huge
sales success of the RSB-D 40 and SB-D 40 drawframes is the
most convincing evidence of the further improvements in sliver
quality, user friendliness and robust engineering.
Booming sales of
the new drawframe generation
Rieter presented the
new RSB-D 40 autoleveler drawframe and the SB-D 40 drawframe
without leveling to a global audience for the first time at ITMA
Asia 2005. Their convincing customer benefits have resulted in
an out-and-out sales boom – with more than 2,800 drawframes
already sold. Some results from mill operations are presented
below:
RSB-D 40 - The
quality filter for your spinning mill
The drawframe is the
final stage in the spinning process that significantly improves
quality. Fluctuations in mass that are not eliminated on the
drawframe reappear undiminished in the yarn. This is where the
RSB-D 40 displays its decisive advantages through even more
precise scanning and enhanced leveling dynamics. The RSB-D 40 is
demonstrating in numerous combed yarn spinning mills that it
also reliably levels out high CV% values in sliver from
competitors‘ combers. The quality of the sliver produced is
assured (Fig. 1). These advantages also apply accordingly to
spinning mills using carded fiber materials.
High productivity
in the subsequent process
The high sliver
quality of the RSB-D 40 improves running properties in the
subsequent processes. This is shown, for example, by a carefully
conducted comparison in a Turkish rotor spinning mill with RSB D
40 and RSB-D 30 drawframes. The spinning mill processes carded
cotton into Ne 20 weaving yarn. The RSB-D 40 drawframes operate
at 750 m/min, some 7% faster than the comparative model. The
efficiency of the rotor spinning machine increases by 0.40
percentage points from 98.7% to 99.1% with the RSB-D 40 sliver,
due to fewer ends down and clearer cuts. In this case the
additional yarn output adds up to a cash benefit of some 2,400
euros p.a. per RSB-D 40. With an Ne 30 yarn the annual cash
benefit would be more than 4,000 euros.
A comparison of the
RSB-D 40 with the predecessor model in a ring spinning mill
reveals advantages in processing cotton with a high honeydew
content. The top rollers remain cleaner as the cleaning lips are
raised at intervals. The cleaning cycle was increased from 0.5
hours to 4 hours despite the critical material. The clean top
rollers are less inclined to form laps. In this ring spinning
mill efficient suction system improved yarn cleanliness and
halved the number of clearer cuts on the winder from 80 to 40
cuts per 100 km of yarn (Fig. 2). The corresponding reduction in
piecings results in better yarn quality and savings on the
winder due to less yarn waste and lower compressed air
consumption amounting to more than 2,200 euros p.a. per RSB-D
40.
Upto 10 tonnes of
sliver per day and drawframe
Delivery speeds can
be increased by 10 to 15% compared to the RSB-D 35 for all
materials. Efficient suction system ensures trouble-free running
in the drafting system and sliver formation zone and keeps
efficiency high. Efficiency also depends on delivery can format
and especially on the supply of cans by operating personnel. At
sliver weights of 7.0 ktex the drawframe achieves an output of
up to 10 tonnes of sliver per day (Fig. 3).

Clean processing
of manmade fibers
Feedback from various
manmade fiber spinning mills confirms the advantages of the new
CLEANcoil coiler. When polyester is being processed, the
patented honeycomb structure enables the cleaning cycle to be
prolonged from 2 to 3 hours to 1 to 7 days, depending on the
type and quantity of finishing agent. A further convincing
feature is the simple sliver separation device without
additional mechanisms or drives, which reliably separates
manmade fiber slivers at can change.
Very easy
operation and maintenance
Our customers make
special mention of the following characteristics in discussions
of user friendliness: self-adjusting leveling by means of
AUTOset saves a large number of manual laboratory tests and
ensures superior quality the AUTOhelp spectrogram fault
diagnosis system facilitates the rapid elimination of faults;
the causes of faults appear on the machine display panel in the
form of a marked transmission diagram the electronic
documentation with more than 40 videos assists ease of
understanding and operation; our customers also use the DVD for
training personnel.
Easy machine
operation, robust engineering and further improved, consistent
RSB yarn quality confirm once again the saying current among
mill managers: "Buy a RSB and sleep soundly."
