Government urged
to exempt export industry from load shedding
The textile export
consignments might be late as the exporters face unscheduled
irregular breakdowns and heavy load shedding of electricity and
gas supply disruption, said Chairman Pakistan Textile Exporters
Association (PTEA) Mian Zahid Aslam. He said not only the
manufacturing schedules and commitment with foreign buyers are
disrupted, but the cost of manufacturing export goods also
escalated due to working hours shift disruptions.
The cloth woven on
powerloom which normally costs Rs. 9 per meter goes up to Rs. 12
per meter as the length and quantity required takes more time
and there are more fabric defects due to stopage of the loom
during normal weaving time. Similarly, in case of dyeing and
printing process, the breakdown in supply of gas and
electricity, sometimes leads to colour and shade mismatching and
variation.
