Decline in cotton yarn export by 30%

The export of cotton yarn has declined by 30% during December 2007 as compared to November 2007 according to official statistics. The country's export of the commodity stood at $86.434 million in December 2007 as compared to $123.360 million in November 2007, showing a 30% decline of $36.926 million.

During December 2007, export of cotton yarn went down by $35.712 million or 29.24 percent as against $122.146 million during December 2006. The cotton yarn export came down by $35.746 million or 6% during the first six months of the current fiscal year. The export of the commodity stood at $665.929 million in July-December 2006 period against $701.675 million in July-December 2006.
