PCSI to set up
five HVI labs for cotton testing
The Pakistan Cotton
Standards Institute (PCSI) will set up five High Volume
Instrument (HVI) Laboratories in Hyderabad, Sindh and
Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal and DG Khan in Punjab with an
estimated cost of Rs. 68.690 million.
The Textile Ministry
spokesman said, linking Ginning Procedure with HVI testing
procedure was imperative for its evaluation on scientific lines.
It is one of the integral parts of cotton standardisation system
to classify and evaluate cotton through class error by using
sophisticated electronic HVI equipment."
He further said that
PCSI was already providing fibre-testing facilities through HVI
at its Cotton Fiber Testing Laboratories established in Karachi
and Sanghar in Sindh and Rahim Yar Khan, Multan and Vehari in
Punjab. In second phase of this program, it would establish 5
more HVI laboratories.
